Parish 2020

Parish 2020, the new pastoral project launched last year, is a journey of renewal in the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney. It is about all of us working together to explore and discern God’s will for our Archdiocese. From January to March 2017, the Archbishop wishes to hear the views and opinions of as many people as possible across the Archdiocese on ways of renewing and strengthening our Parishes and communities for our future. You are invited to complete an online survey by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2V7XL9X or clicking on the following link to download and print a copy at home P2020 – P-C survey – Written Option.

For those unfamiliar with technology, a paper version of the same survey is available at the back of the Church. For further information, presentations, resources and updates please visit http://www.sydneycatholic.org/parishes/parish2020/.

Please return by 12th March 2017, thank you.

Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Catholic parish of St Gertrude in Smithfield, NSW, Australia. We are one parish with two churches, The Shrine of St Benedict in Smithfield and St Therese of the Infant Jesus in the neighbouring suburb of Fairfield West, as well as numerous ethnic and spiritual communities.

This is an exciting time of renewal, revitalisation and development in our parish and, as you browse our website, you might see some of the breadth of activity underway.

Our vitality as a parish is nurtured and sustained by the spirituality of the Order of Saint Paul the First Hermit and through our various Liturgical and Outreach ministries and parish personnel.

For those who wish to know more about our parish, or are considering joining us, please contact me to discuss your needs.

For those already in the parish, there are many opportunities for you to become involved. I invite you to consider the ways in which you might feel comfortable in sharing your gifts and time with others.

Best wishes,

Fr. Jarek Zan OSPPE
Parish Priest
